But I thought I'd move back to 16 bit as I doubt the CD was recorded at anything more than 16 bit(?) I read something about Chandos CDs being made at 20 bits, but this wasn't a Chandos CD. I tried moving it to 24 bit just to see, and on one CD listening for a few minutes there was no distortion or noticeable degrading. A look at Device Manager > Sound confirms the IDT High Definition Audio CODEC. It states "Refer to your hardware specs for preferred output bit depth", and there's a warning that using bit depth above hardware capabilities results in degraded performance. Specifically I'm interested right now in setting the bit depth where WASABI appears in Foobar2000 (which seems to be default at 16). I'd like to ask for some help on WASABI please, specially if there's somewhere on the web with a practical explanation and guidance as to how to get the best out of it.
